He went to the front in August 2023 and, despite his medical education, served as a machine gunner, taking part in assaults in the Avdiivka, Pisky, and Vuhledar areas. «The commanders tried to persuade me to be a medic. But I insisted on becoming an assaulter: I need the adrenaline», — he recounted. During the war, Klaus sustained a severe hand injury and a concussion and returned to Krasnoyarsk, where he regularly meets with schoolchildren and students, conducts «Lessons of Valor», urging young people to sign a contract after mandatory service and head to the war, calling it a «heroic deed». At the same time, by his own admission, Klaus was pushed to go to war by a quarrel with his girlfriend: «I had nothing left to lose. There were nerves and stress». In an interview, he said he struggles with adapting to peaceful life and would like to return to the front.”
