Bahraini uprising of 2011
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahraini_uprising_of_2011
Citat:

Protesters in Manama camped for days at the Pearl Roundabout, which became the centre of the protests. After a month, the government of Bahrain requested troops police aid from the Gulf Cooperation Council. On 14 March 1,000 troops from Saudi Arabia and 500 troops from UAE entered Bahrain and crushed the uprising .[31] A day later, King Hamad declared martial law and a three-month state of emergency.[32][33] Pearl Roundabout was cleared of protesters and the iconic statue at its center was destroyed.

v siriji pa potekajo ali pa so potekale volitve...

http://sana.sy/en/?p=74361

Damascus, SANA – President Bashar al-Assad and Mrs. Asma al-Assad voted Wednesday in the People’s Assembly elections at a voting center in al-Assad Library in Damascus.

In a statement to the media as he left the voting center, President al-Assad said “the Syrian people are engaged in a war that has been going on for five years, through which terrorism managed to shed innocent blood and destroy much infrastructure, but it failed in achieving the primary goal it was assigned, which is destroying the principle structure in Syria, meaning the social structure of the national identity.”

“This is why the terrorists’ employers and masters moved in a parallel direction under a political headline whose main goal is to undermine this social structure and undermine the national identity, which are expressed by the constitution,” His Excellency said.

“The Syrian people have been aware during the past years of that point, which is why we saw the citizens’ enthusiasm to participate in all previous constitutional requirements whether they were the presidential elections or the legislative elections, and this is what we see today as well with the wide-scale participation by all elements of society, particularly in the matter of running for the elections, as this year saw an unprecedented number compared to any parliamentary elections in Syria throughout the past decades,” President al-Assad added.

He pointed out that participation in these elections involved all components of society, and at the forefront of them are families that lost their children because of terrorism and families of martyrs and wounded people who sacrificed their lives or bodies in defense of the homeland, adding “the homeland is land, people, and institution, and what brings all these elements together is the constitution.”

“Because of all that, you see us participating today by voting together, which is the first time we do so as the President and his wife, and it’s natural for us to be among those contributing today in this requirement as Syrian citizens defending the constitutional requirement with all that the constitution represents to us, whether as two Syrians or as Syrians as a whole,” President al-Assad said, adding “also, it is natural to witness great enthusiasm among citizens, which is what we saw in the first years of these elections.”

Damascus, SANA – The People’s Assembly elections for selecting 250 members from over 3,500 candidates from across all Syrian provinces began at 7 AM on Wednesday April 13th, with voters beginning to arrive at the voting centers early in the morning.

Aleppo

Voting centers, which number over 7,300, opened their doors to voters at 7 AM and were initially due to remain open until 7 PM.

Later on the day, the Higher Judicial Committee for Elections announced the decision to extend vote-casting for five hours until 12:00 midnight at all polling centers due to massive turnout.

In a statement to SANA, head of Higher Judicial Committee for Elections, Judge Hisham al-Shaar, said that elections are proceeding well, with no complaints or problems registered so far.

Al-Shaar said that the voters’ turnout is good, and that the Committee is staying in touch with subcommittees in provinces and elections committees.

SANA’s correspondents in the provinces confirmed that voting centers are witnessing strong and increasing turnout.

The voting centers include over 2,000 centers in Damascus, 17 in Deir Ezzor, 1,047 in Lattakia, 661 in Homs, 347 in Sweida, 741 in Hama, 368 in Hasaka, 816 in Tartous, and 347 in Sweida are receiving voters.

It should be noted that voting centers were opened in Damascus, Damascus Countryside, Hama, Lattakia, Aleppo, Tartous, Hasaka, and Deir Ezzor to receive voters staying in these provinces who are originally from other areas, namely the provinces of Idleb, Raqqa, Aleppo, Deir Ezzor, and Daraa.

Army and Armed Forces personnel also participated in the elections, including Defense Minister and officers of the General Command.

Candidates began their elections campaigns on March 14th, which continued until the morning of Tuesday April 12th, at the same time as the judicial subcommittees for the elections announced their readiness to carry out and supervise the elections.

To cover this event, a media center for mass media outlets was set up at Sheraton Hotel in Damascus.

Turkey floods northeastern Latakia (Syria) with Jihadist fighters
https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/turkey-floods-northeastern-latakia-jihadist-fighters/
The Russian Coordination Center at the Hmaymim Military Airbase in Jableh (Latakia) reported on Thursday the recent arrival of some 150+ Jihadist fighters in northeastern Latakia after they were seen crossing the border from Turkey. According to a military source in the provincial capital, these Jihadist fighters were monitored and tracked by the Russian Coordination Center as they crossed through Turkish Army checkpoints in order to enter Syria through the northeastern countryside of Latakia. This was not the first time the Russians tracked a large concentration of Jihadists entering Syria from Turkey; however, the complete disregard for Syria’s territorial sovereignty has been one of the reasons the Russian Federation refuses rapprochement with Turkey.....

Citat:
The US Air Force for the first time deployed a B-52 bomber against the Islamic State, the Pentagon said Wednesday as it ramps up a 20-month campaign to smash the jihadists.

The bombing mission, in which a hulking B-52 destroyed a weapons storage facility south of Mosul, comes the same week that Defense Secretary Ash Carter visited Baghdad and announced extra US troops, cash and equipment for the anti-IS campaign in Iraq.

In other signs of an increasing tempo, US commandos working with Kurdish troops conducted a raid targeting a senior IS group figure and the Pentagon said it has changed how air strikes risking civilian deaths are approved.

Under the new rules, authority now comes from the commanding three-star US general in Baghdad, instead of going through a four-star at the US Central Command's headquarters in Florida.

...

Carter this week announced an additional 217 US forces would be deployed to Iraq as advisors, pushing the official count there past 4,000.

The Pentagon has also offered Apache attack helicopters for use in an eventual push on Mosul, Iraq's second city and which is under control of the IS group.

Separately, Danish lawmakers have approved a plan to commit seven F-16 warplanes, a transport aircraft and 400 military personnel to expand its fight against the extremists.
