Rover ni po svoji volji zaprl tovarno(e). Po volji drugih, tudi politikov. To ne želim nobeni firmi, tudi BMW ju ne.

The car was very economical, largely because of excellent aerodynamics for its class of car (drag coefficient of 0.31) and a very light weight of 640 kg (1411 lb) for the basic version. The first performance version was the limited-run AX Sport from 1987, with a 1.3 engine and twin carburetors producing 95 bhp (71 kW). Later, the AX 14GT, with a single-carburettor 85 bhp (63 kW) 1.4 engine also found in the Peugeot 205 XS, was introduced. From 1989, this model utilised fuel injection.

1991 saw the range revised, with a heavily facelifted tailgate and interior being the most notable changes. The following year saw the introduction of the most powerful AX variant, the 100 bhp (70 kW) GTi. The GT was sold along side the GTi for a short while but was eventually dropped. New models were introduced such as the forte, spree, elation and dimension

650kg je bila osnovna verzija, verjetno 1.0 brez vse opreme in trivratna.
Že moj 1.1 Image je imel malenkost čez 800kg, GT(i) je bil verjetno še malenkost težji. Ampak vseeno raketa. To bi rad enkrat v življenju vozil. Že moj je letel kot hudič, no ko si se moral ustavit, si pa preklinjal hudiča

ti podatki se uporabljajo veliko v tovornem transportu....kw/t, t/km...itd....
tam kjer je pač pomembno...ker je velika razlika ali vleče kamion s 650KM čez alpe, ali pa 500KM.....razlika pride na koncu ta, da ne potrebuješ dveh voznikov zardi obveznega počitka.....

Roverjev K motor iz začetka 90ih je tudi cel iz aluminija. 1.8 motor s 108 kw ima reci piši 82 kg(brez tekočin). In to pred skoraj 20-imi leti.

The Toyota engine is now established with Lotus and one would wish this amazing company the best of luck with it in the US, given that the emission work has been done, however it seems very strange to offer the engine in an Elise here. In its favour, the Toyota engine does boast an "almost" headline grabbing 190 bhp and is very cheap for Lotus to buy. Against it though, it is a short stroke engine which consequently produces poor torque 133 lbft, only 8lbft more than the standard 118bhp k series and the Toyota has to be revved hard to get there, max torque coming in at 5800rpm as opposed to the Ks peak at just 3000rpm! What is more the Toyota only revs to 8250rpm which hardly justifies the short stroke design. I heard that Jeff Grose busied himself during the launch of the Toyota engined Exige, showing journalists, power and torque curves which he claimed reasonably equated the Toyota"s output, with the old VHPD. This exercise entirely missed the point - the VHPD"s performance is dreadful and that were it to be developed properly "by Rover" even the existing cams would give a solid 200bhp and 150lbft of torque @ 4000rpm, enough to comfortably beat the Toyota and be a much easier drive. Furthermore since the Toyota is so heavy " 127kg, dry as opposed to 82kg for a dry VHPD; - that"s a 54% increase in engine weight, the power to weight ratio of the Toyota is poor. In fact given that the new Elise 111R and Exige S2 have seen their kerb weights bloat to 860kg, even without the plethora of extras which most of these cars now seem to have [these send the kerb weight to 925kg "equivalent" to a conventional steel bodied Rover 25 !!!!!!!!!!!] this gives a power to weight ratio of 218 bhp/ton, equivalent only to the old Elise S1 160, which again was a poor non Rover engine but nonetheless had more accessible torque and therefore more grunt than the new Toyota engined cars

Ja, je treba dodat. Če je razlika v teži motorjev 45kg, potem porast mase avtomobila iz 720kg na 900+ kg ni ravno problem Toyote in njenega motorja (180 kg ni 45 kg).

Razmerje moči in teže samega motorja je popolnoma irelevanten podatek, ker se motor ne vozi po cesti sam brez šasije in koles itd. To težo je treba sešteti s težo ostalih delov avtomobila, in takrat je pač razmerje teže (na primer) 190 hp/745 kg boljše od 145 hp/700 kg.

Tukaj so pa rezultati "rubbish" Toyota-powered exiga proti Rover-powered elisu. Zakaj pa pri Lotusu niso mogli v standardni model elisa vtakniti močnejšega Roverjevega motorja, kot so pač ga, pa ne vem, mogoče problemi z zanesljivostjo ali kaj drugega. Toyotinega 190hp so očitno lahko vtaknili v osnovni model. Pač prekleti Lotus ni mogel/hotel izkoristiti polnega potenciala Roverjih motorjev.

Tisto besedičenje o navoru je pa popolnoma mimo. Kaj je (relativno) slab navor na nizkih vrtljajih zdaj že slabost športnih avtomobilov in dirkalnikov, če si tako ali tako v visokih vrtljajih, ko dirkaš? Zato pa so menjalniki. Jebemtiš, formula 1, you`re doing it wrong. Nekaj vrtite tiste mašine brezveze, ko vsak ve, da mora navor biti dosegljiv pri nizkih obratih.

Če hočeš "easy drive" in se ti ne ljubi menjavat, kupiš golfa TDi, ne pa elisa/exiga. Zdaj mi pa naj nekdo pove, čemu bi naj bil elise/exige po obliki krivulje moči bliže: formuli 1 ali nekemu dizelskemu tovornjaku? Kaj daje več užitka?

Sem kaj spregledal, ali gre le za pojav, da je pač rover vedno najhitrejši - tudi, če ga ostali prehitijo?

Se ne splača z njim pregovarjat, če nisi že po parih postih opazil... On ima prav! Inžinerji v Lotusu so se zajebal in se zdaj matrajo s temi jajci od Toyote. Rover je bil pred 10 leti v bistvu zelo kakovostna in napredna znamka avtomobilov, samo nažalost jih je politika zjebala... mislim celo da so se takrat pogovarjal, da bi prodali svoje raziskave VW-ju za pomoč pri izdelavi Veyrona
