Citat:
Why is my BPA-Free product still labeled #7?
The numbers found on the bottom of plastic materials are used to help classify plastics for recycling purposes.
#7 is used to categorize all plastics that do not fall into any other plastic categories. Polycarbonate (a plastic containing BPA) is one type of plastic coded #7.
Many other plastics coded #7 are NOT polycarbonate and do NOT contain BPA.
An example of a safe plastic labeled #7is the copolyester material used in BPA-free plastics, such as Aladdin’s BPA- Free Clean & Pure Water Bottle. This copolyster material is safe and does not contain BPA, yet because there is no other category for this new plastic it is grouped in the “other,” #7 category.
