Chandhok joins Senna at HRT
04 March 2010

Karun Chandhok was officially announced on Thursday as Bruno Senna's team-mate at the HRT Formula 1 team, formerly known as Campos Meta. In Murcia, Spain, the new Formula 1 team will reveal its livery later today.

Speaking in the team's official statement HRT team principal Colin Kolles said: "I am very pleased to use the Murcia site to officially unveil our car livery today. We also complete the driver's team line-up with the Indian Karun Chandhok at the wheel of the car for our first ever season.

"We have been very impressed with Karun's performance in GP2. India is a great country. It will be great for the sport to have an Indian driver on the grid for the first Indian Grand Prix. Murcia is part of the roots of the team. Everything is now in place after an impossible race against time to register the team's name and I truly believe that we have an excellent platform to build on and move forward for a strong 2010 performance. Now, we need to work together. We need to learn together and keep developing as a team."

Karun Chandhok will be the second driver from India to race in Formula 1.

Official: Pirelli to provide Formula 1 tyres
23 June 2010

Pirelli has been confirmed as Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier for the next three seasons, following a meeting of governing body the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) in Geneva on Wednesday.

With Bridgestone set to leave the sport at the end of the current season, having been the only tyre company involved in F1 since the start of 2007, talks between teams narrowed the final choice down to Pirelli and France’s Michelin – last involved in 2006 – although a final decision has been delayed for some weeks.

However, the FIA has now decided to select what was incidentally believed to be the preferred choice for most teams, as Pirelli prepares to return after last winning with Nélson Piquet and Benetton at the 1991 Canadian Grand Prix.

The following FIA statement also suggests that the Paris-based federation is hoping to ensure that varying compounds will be used in all races in order to spice up the show:

‘Pirelli has been selected as the single tyre supplier for the FIA Formula One World Championship for a period of three years, commencing in 2011.

The sole supplier will undertake to strictly respect the sporting and technical regulations implemented by the FIA.’

Mercedes apologise to Williams for lost wheel incident
02 August 2010

Mercedes’ Norbert Haug has issued an official apology to Williams after one of its mechanics suffered minor injuries due to a stray wheel of Nico Rosberg in the Hungarian Grand Prix pit lane.

With bedlam having taken over in the pit lane as the Safety Car was suddenly deployed for on-track debris, the majority of the field rushed in at the end of Lap 15. However, amid the panic, Rosberg’s right-rear wheel was not correctly fitted and thus immediately flew off his car as he rejoined the driving lane of the pits.

Having bounced along the lane, it then struck Williams’ Nigel Hope, who thankfully was able to continue working after a trip to the medical centre for routine examinations.

“A very disappointing result for our team,” said Haug, Mercedes Motorsport’s Vice President.

“Thankfully the mechanic who was hit by the tyre was quickly released from his check-up in the medical centre and our apologies to him and the Williams team.”

More details about the shape of radical new regulations for 2013 have continued to emerge.

Earlier, it was reported that most teams have essentially agreed that the field will in future be powered by 1.6 litre, 4 cylinder turbo engines, with the cars featuring 80s-style 'ground effect' aerodynamics.

Monday's reports also said drivers will be limited to using just five of the 650 horse power engines in 2013.

The online magazine GPWeek has now revealed some additional details of the new formula.

The publication said the turbo engines will run at about 10,000rpm, and feature an efficient limit on the fuel flow -- culminating in a 'green' formula that some insiders believe might entice manufacturers back onto the grid.

KERS will also play an increasing role in F1's future regulations, with additional heat-recovery technology to likely augment the existing hybrid systems.

Additionally, the cars' sidepods will be moved forwards to increase driver protection, and the size of the wheel rims is expected to increase in future years.

The basis of the 2013 rules are likely to be outlined in more detail after a forthcoming meeting of the World Motor Sport Council.

Pa še tole jo novo

The FIA have announced Ferrari will not be punished any further for using team orders during the German Grand Prix.
However the World Motor Sport Council upheld the $100,000 fine imposed by the stewards after the Hockenheim race.
The reasoning for the decision has not yet been published.

A ni 650 HP na 1,6l turbo malo premalo? V 80tih so imeli BMW 1,5l turboti čez 1000 HP.

F1 drivers on Thursday said the FIA needs to clarify the ban on team orders in the wake of Ferrari's Paris hearing more than 24 hours ago.

At Hockenheim in July, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa swapped places in a move that stewards - imposing a $100,000 fine - deemed a breach of the team orders ban.

The breach was referred to the World Motor Sport Council, but on Wednesday in Paris the governing body did not apply further sanctions, apparently due to a lack of evidence.

The FIA released the full dossier of its decision on Friday, revealing that while it thought Ferrari had breached the rule, there were likely "many examples" of similar or better-veiled breaches in recent years.

The controversial regulation will therefore be reviewed, but not before more racing takes place, including this weekend at Monza.

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner said the Ferrari affair is a "precedent" in the event that "teams want to move drivers around in a race".

"If the team has enough money, then it seems like you can do something like that," Force India's Adrian Sutil agreed.

Michael Schumacher volunteered to be a part of the rule's review process.

"It is necessary to find a very clear situation that is understood by everybody," said the seven time world champion.

Mark Webber agrees that, at present, there is a rule banning team orders but a precedent that now allows teams to break it without receiving a sporting sanction.

"Until we get a clear clarification on what we know is right and wrong, it turns out what Ferrari did at Hockenheim wasn't a big problem for the FIA," he said.

res ne vem zakaj enostavno ne rečejo da zadnjo tretjino prvenstva pa lahko spremnijajo team order, pa neb nobene hude krvi bilo.
