On your phone go to Settings > Applications > Tick Unknown Sources (if not already ticked).
Download Universal Androot – Download.
Copy to the SD Card and Install Universal Androot using a File Manager like the “Filer” app.
Once installed Run Universal Androot and Click the “Root” Button (and let it do its thing), your phone should now be Rooted.
Download and Run “ROM Manager” (free version) from the Android Market.
Press the “Flash ClockworkMod Recovery” Button, you should get a Superuser message popup, just click “Allow” and let it do its thing.
Exit out of ROM Manager for the time being.
Download the 2.1 Debranded firmware – Download.
Copy the De-Branded firmware to your SD card leaving it in .zip format.
Load ROM Manager and press “Reboot into Recovery”, your phone will now reboot.
In ClockworkMod select “Wipe Data/Factory Reset” then “Wipe Cache Partition” then under Advanced choose “Wipe Delvik Cache”.
Navigate the menus to flash the file “r8_update_de-orangeated_blade_signed.zip” (Install Zip From sdcard > Choose zip from SD Card).
Wait for the image to flash.
Once done just restart your phone and it should be totally de-branded.
